City Giving Day Q&A: Standard Chartered

In the run up to City Giving Day 2025, we hear from Hind Naciri, Regional Head, Community Impact & Engagement, Europe Corporate Affairs, Brand & Marketing at Standard Chartered Bank on why companies should get involved this year…

Tell us what you did last year for City Giving Day?

We used our City Giving Day platform to promote the partnerships we have with our community organisations. We have an amazing initiative called Future Makers that we run worldwide, and we have partners that help us deliver programmes for young people that focus on employability and entrepreneurship.

Last September for City Giving Day, we hosted a talent marketplace for our Future Makers with some of our young people and our entrepreneurship programmes. We also carried out training for volunteers and did some fundraising by selling merchandise and cupcakes baked by Standard Chartered colleagues.

What is the impact of City Giving Day for you?

It's an opportunity for us to share our impact across the company and to highlight opportunities for colleagues to get involved. Also to get the chance to hear from the young people that are benefiting from the time that they give on their volunteering days.

That's what it's all about, to bring us together as an organisation. It's our people that really help to bring City Giving Day to life.

What is your favourite thing about City Giving Day?

We love using City Giving Day to really celebrate the kind of good that's done through the City. Not just through our own organisation, but with our peers. It’s great to hear what other companies are doing in their communities and getting the chance to share our story with them.

We’ve also been able to gain learning from some of the incredible charities other companies support. It's a real piece of collaboration across the City network that you don't often get to hear about.
