St Andrew's Ball ends the year in spectacular style

We opened the festive season with a spectacular St Andrew's Ball on Friday 6 December.

This very special evening reflected the heritage of the new Lord Mayor Alderman Alastair King DL and Lady Mayoress Florence King, and marked the end of a busy year of events for The Lord Mayor's Appeal.

Over 200 tartan-clad guests were treated to an action-packed evening starting with a Piper from the Royal Regiment of Scotland to welcome them into Mansion House.

This followed a Champagne reception courtesy of Pernod Ricard and then into the Egyptian Hall for live entertainment from Fiona Kennedy OBE DL, live and silent auctions including a chance to win a night at Mansion House. All raising funds for The Lord Mayor's Appeal.

After a delicious Scottish banquet, the guests moved on to the most important part of the evening... the dancing. Reeling to The Craigievar Ceilidh band was lead by The Lord Mayor Alderman Alastair King DL, before everyone ended the night with a sing along and dram.

On the ball, one guest said;

"Thank you for allowing us to enjoy a festive night of Scottish traditions, like enthusiastic bidding wars, singing and dancing, and all-round merriment."

A huge thank you to all that supported the event, particularly the organising committee consisting of Laura Devine, Fiona Kennedy OBE, Dr Robert Kilgour, Lord Mayor Alderman Alastair King DL, Lady Mayoress Florence King, Lady Lauriston, Jillian MacLean MBE, John McLean OBE (Chair) and Brian McRitchie.
