This is Me attends 7th annual MAD World Summit
Representing This is Me, The Lord Mayor of the City of London Alderman Professor Michael Mainelli was a lead speaker at the 7th Annual M.A.D World Summit in October.
Like This is Me, which encourages companies from the City and beyond to help end the stigma of talking about mental health in the workplace, the annual M.A.D event stands for ‘make a difference’ and invites business leaders to address mental health and wellbeing as a priority.
In his speech, the Lord Mayor acknowledged the diverse audience at the event, spanning large and small businesses. He was also pleased to highlight that ‘through research and understanding we are chipping away at the stigma around mental ill health and finding answers to global problems including mental health.’
He went on to explain a little more about The Lord Mayor’s Appeal partnership with MQ Mental Health Research, including its support of Galenos - a groundbreaking open-access platform which aims to speed up the process of developing novel therapies and predicting effective treatments.
The Lord Mayor finished by speaking about his own journey to understanding mental health, saying:
“One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is about myself is you don’t have to be ill to get better. Mental health is just a journey we are all on.”
The Lord Mayor was joined by other lead speakers Luciana Berger, Senior Adviser at iNHouse Communications; Peter Cheese, CEO at CIPD and Professor Dame Carol Black GBE FRCP FMed Sci, Chair at Centre for Ageing Better & Chair at British Library.
Now in its seventh successful year, the MAD World Festival 2024 event features fresh insights – both from leaders in established industries and from bold disruptors who are setting a new benchmark for company culture. Through the lens of mental health, it showcases tangible whole-person solutions – blending best-practice case studies with the most exciting ideas driving innovation.
This is Me supports organisations to raise awareness and end the stigma around mental health in the workplace. The programme builds the skills of employees to talk about mental health confidently by delivering workshops and webinars, supporting businesses with This is Me storytelling campaigns and encouraging companies to join the Green Ribbon movement.
