Sheriffs' Ball celebrates best of Britain

Friday 20 September saw The Sheriffs of the City of London Alderwoman Dame Susan Langley DBE and Alderman Bronek Masojada host the eighth Sheriffs’ Ball at the spectacular Guildhall in aid of The Lord Mayor’s Appeal.

This year's successful Sheriffs' Ball, which welcomed 430 guests, had a patriotic yet fun theme, celebrating the Best of London and the Best of Britain.

Making sure guests got the theme as they entered, the Guildhall Yard entrance was flanked by British cars including a Rolls Royce, Etype Jaguar and red Routemaster bus – as well as a formation of Pikemen & Musketeers who provided a lined guard of honour.

Once inside, Pearly Kings and Queens welcomed guests into the building and directed them to the Crypts. Along the way, there was an opportunity for photo fun taking snaps with the Sheriffs’ cut out boards.

In the atmospheric Crypts, everyone enjoyed a Chapel Down sparkling wine drinks reception, followed by a three-course dinner with a Best of British menu in the Great Hall.

Darren Reeves and his band sang and played live between courses with tracks from classic British artists include Queen and the Beatles, guests took the opportunity to take to the dancefloor with their fun and interactive performances.

After dinner, DJ Tom Baker took to the decks and was accompanied by a saxophone player and electric violinist and guests danced until midnight.

Fundraising included Heads or Tails, with funds going to the Sheriff & Recorders Fund, and a silent auction of 41 prizes.

The night was a huge success and very much enjoyed by all. The Sheriffs and The Lord Mayor's Appeal would like to thank everyone who has supported the event including table and ticket buyers, sponsors, prize donors and the Organising Committee.
