Abseil 2024 hits new heights

The Lord Mayor of the City of London Alderman Professor Michael Mainelli was joined by 99 brave souls on Friday 7 June to abseil 215 meters down The Leadenhall Building.

The most popular yet, this year's abseil had huge support from the liveries of the City, with 19 different livery companies being represented including:

  • The Worshipful Company of Arbitrators
  • The Worshipful Company of Carmen
  • The Worshipful Company of Brewers
  • The Worshipful Company of Fan Makers
  • The Worshipful Company of Clockmakers
  • The Worshipful Company of Arts Scholars
  • The Worshipful Company of Hackney Carriage Drivers
  • The Worshipful Company of Firefighters
  • The Master of Worshipful Company of Chartered Surveyors
  • The Worshipful Company of Management Consultants
  • The Worshipful Company of Insurers
  • The Worshipful Company of Water Conservators
  • The Worshipful Company of World Traders
  • The Worshipful Company of Pattenmakers
  • The Worshipful Company of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators.
  • The Worshipful Company of Security Professionals
  • The Worshipful Company of Merchant Taylors
  • The Worshipful Company of Scientific Instrument Makers
  • The Worshipful Company of Architects

We also had huge support from businesses in the City such as Gallagher, Aon, CBRE. An impressive 12 participants from Axis and seven from Singer Capital Markets. Not to mention our first septuagenarian couple Wendy and Mark and star guest, The Lady Mayoress taking part for the first time.

So far we have raised over £75,000 with more sponsorship money still coming in. This will help The Lord Mayor’s Appeal in its aim to ‘Create A Better City For All’ and support its partner charities; MQ Mental Health Research, Homewards and National Numeracy.
