Our Grand Finale raises record funds for The Lord Mayor's Appeal

Thursday 2 November marked a memorable night at Guildhall when distinguished guests helped the Lord Mayor Alderman Nicholas Lyons and Lady Mayoress Felicity Lyons wave goodbye to the current Mayoral Year. 

The lavish black tie event kicked off with 10 Pikemen & Musketeers providing a lined guard as guests arrived and joined the Nyetimber English sparkling wine reception' before sitting down to a three-course fine dining menu curated by celebrated chefs Charlie Hibbert and Jeremy Lee.

Between courses a steady stream of inspiring young talent championed by the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress entertained the diners - from jazz musicians at King Edward School Witley to 16-year old violin prodigy Leia Zhu and musical theatre from Urdang students at City, University of London.

On attending the Grand Finale, The Lord Mayor's Appeal Trustee and Pro Vice-Chancellor (Education & Student Experience) Royal Holloway, University of London, Professor Zainab Khan said:  

"What an incredible evening! Everything was superb, the use and flow through of Guildhall, the staging and setting, entertainment - I'm still blown away by the incredible young people. Guests were relaxed, enjoying themselves. The Numeracy challenge was a great idea, as was celebrating The Lord Mayor's Appeal's charity partners. I cannot remember a black tie event I have enjoyed so much." 

Fundraising activities thorughout the night included live and silent auctions - the former conducted by former Sotheby's auctioneer Thomas Williams, a true or false numeracy-based quiz curated by The Appeal's charity partner National Numeracy and a diamond earring raffle. Guiding guests skillfully through their Grand Finale journey, was MC, TV and radio presenter Gaby Roslin.

Thanks to everyone who helped to make our Grand Finale a roaring success, raising over £180,000 for The Lord Mayor's Appeal. We would like to particularly thank all those that supported us on the event, in particular our premium table sponsor, and all those who bought standard tables or tickets or donated prizes as well as the Organising Committee for all their hard work.
