Phantom of the Opera themed Sheriffs' Ball is a showstopper
Friday 22 September saw Guildhall come alive with the music of the night as The Lord Mayor’s Appeal held its first event of the autumn season hosted by the Sheriffs of the City of London, Alderman Alastair King and Andrew Marsden.
This year's Sheriffs' Ball had a dramatic, Phantom of the Opera theme complete with two immersive performances from Beyond Repair Entertainment featuring songs from the show and live music. To add further theatre to the guests entrance, the Guildhall courtyard was flanked with two Rolls-Royce Phantom cars which created the perfect prop for photo opportunities.
This hugely popular City event, now in its seventh year, saw 440 guests in attendance including The Lady Mayoress Felicity Lyons, Aldermen, Common Councillors and Liverymen, all to raise funds for The Lord Mayor’s Appeal. On arrival guests were welcomed by masqued figures and then moved into the atmospheric Crypts followed by a delicious three course dinner with wine in the spectacular Great Hall.
A highlight of the evening was the Phantom-themed medley with roaming live performers and a giant Phantom mask projected onto the walls of the Great Hall. Fundraising activities included a silent auction with 52 prize lots including a stunning pair of Odendaal diamond earrings and a fun-filled True or False fundraiser. Master of Ceremonies for the evening was broadcaster and MasterChef judge William Sitwell.
After dancing up a storm fuelled by a live DJ, guests disappeared just before the clock struck 12 with a Vegan Super Stuffed Chocolate Chip Cookie from an award-winning gourmet dough brand Doughlicious.
The night was a huge success and very much enjoyed by all. The Sheriffs and The Lord Mayor's Appeal would like to thank everyone who has supported the event including table and ticket buyers, our digital sponsors Iconic Digital, prize donors and the Organising Committee.
Next year’s Sheriffs’ Ball will take place on Friday 20 September 2024. To register your interest please email events@thelordmayorsappeal.org or call 020 7332 1582.
