Annual Grand Finale A Roaring Success
Thursday 3rd November was a glamour-filled night at Guildhall when the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress hosted the annual Grand Finale. Mark the end of the mayoral year, 310 esteemed guests arrived to ten Pikemen and Musketeers performing a ceremonial guard followed by an evening of outstanding entertainment inspired by the Lord Mayor's Irish heritage.
To kick things off young musicians from the London Celtic Youth Orchestra performed as the crowd toasted their hosts with a Champagne and Guinness drinks reception before sitting down to a sumptuous three course dinner created exclusively by acclaimed Irish chef and London restaurateur Richard Corrigan in the Great Hall. During the meal, guests were treated to fantastic Irish dance performances from the Trainor School of Irish Dance and Beyond Repair; followed by an electrifying headline set with beautiful spoken word recital from Irish singer Imelda May who topped the bill with her five piece band. Global pop-star Ed Sheeran even made a surprise appearance via a pre-recorded personal video message to the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress.
Raising vital funds for The Lord Mayor’s Appeal, a silent auction with 56 exciting lots on offer including weekends away and private distillery tours plus a thrilling live auction was conducted by MC and Auctioneer Alex Fleming.
Thanks to this unforgettable night, we're on track to raise over £100,000 and would like to thank everyone who has supported us on the event, in particular our premium table sponsor DLA Piper, and all those who bought standard tables or tickets or donated prizes as well as the Organising Committee for all their hard work.
