Cheers! Beerfest is back at Guildhall Yard
Some of Britain’s best beers are being draughted into the heart of the City on 7 July as the City of London Corporation’s annual Beerfest returns.
To the celebratory New Orleans-themed sounds of band Unswung Heroes, visitors will be able to enjoy over 30 different ales and beers from British and international breweries. There are also low alcohol, vegan beers, and soft drinks. Delicious food from around the world will be served from stalls.
The fun-packed event – the eighth time Beerfest has been held – will take place from 12.30pm to 9pm. All profits from the event go to the Lord Mayor’s Appeal, which supports five charities: Samaritans, Place2Be, OnSide Youth Zones, National Numeracy and the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.
Drinkers can book tickets online and get a 10 per cent discount at www.citybeerfest.org/tickets
The City Corporation this week launched Destination City, a bold new vision that will boost the vibrancy of the Square Mile and drive forward its recovery from the pandemic.
Destination City will see the City Corporation annually invest £2.5m to boost the Square Mile’s leisure offer to create a fun, inclusive, innovative and sustainable place to visit.
Chair of the City of London Corporation’s Culture, Heritage and Libraries Committee, Wendy Hyde, said:
“This is a wonderful opportunity for Londoners to sip a beer and tuck into some fabulous food in the historic setting of Guildhall Yard in the heart of the City.
“As well as listening to some first-class live music, people can raise money for a good cause.
“We want the Square Mile to be a vibrant destination of choice for everyone.
“And as we recover from the pandemic, events like this are revitalising our streets and reinvigorating our businesses.”
The City of London Corporation is the fourth largest funder of heritage and cultural activities in the UK and invests over £130m every year.
